Project

Proposal development for the U.S. Government's Joint Primary Aircraft Training System (JPATS), a multi-billion dollar development and production program including organizational, technical and facility development as well as long term logistical support.

Business Challenge

Northrop was required to submit a fully networked and integrated CPM schedule, using unfamiliar software, as part of the proposal. IMS was tasked with providing guidance and technical assistance for the development of the schedule. The schedule would be used by the source selection authority to gain visibility into the details of their plans and to assess risks associated with their approach.

Solution

  • Designed and implemented a system and procedures for development of a Master Integrated Program Schedule.
  • Numerous sub-networks were integrated into a single CPM schedule compliant with U.S. Government RFP requirements.
  • Provided training in CPM scheduling methodology and related software, i.e. Open Plan.
  • Customized reporting output to satisfy specific client needs.
  • Provided customized FoxPro relational database support for management of critical program data and correspondence.

Impact

Recommendations were implemented which enabled Northrop Corporation to develop a sound approach to the problem and develop, refine, document and deliver a complete and accurate schedule in time for submittal with the proposal.
